Everyone came in between me and Sanya to wish her

Aditi, Dhruv, Shruti, Urvi, Sambhav and Abhinav all came and hugged me wishing me a very happy birthday. Shaurya was also standing there. I was so relieved to see him back home.

Before he can come and wish me, Kabir and Nishi entered from the front door with balloons and cake in hand singing Happy Birthday Sanya, and everyone started singing.

I hugged both of them together saying

"Thank you", then I turned to everyone and said

"Thank you to all of you, really you made this birthday so special for me" I said grinning ear to ear.

Dhruv came to me and said

"Oh come on, wait till you see what we have planned for you" patting my back.

"Yes, keep that smile saved for the events ahead, Bestie!!", Aditi said grinning to me.

"Bestie??" I thought to myself, like yeah, we used to be best friends before she and Shaurya started dating, and I never really am pissed about her dating Shaurya but she was always so insecure of me with Shaurya, I was just not used to this exclamation recently.

"Maybe now she was moving here for sophomore year, and things between her and Shaurya were better" I explained to myself.

"Happy Birthday Sanya" Shaurya said, coming to me past Aditi and giving me an awkward side hug.

I said "Thank you" with a difficult smile,

"Sorry to disclose this to you guys like this, but I really have some urgent work to get done today itself, let me complete that first and then we will continue with your surprise plans?" I said to the group.

"Work on your birthday? Come on Sanya, get yourself a break" Shruti said

"Yeah, just sit and relax today" Urvi agreed.

"Guys, if it was possible to postpone it , I would have loved to, but that is not possible, so sorry" I explained to them.

Sanya had an urgent work today, I knew she was just upset and didn't want to celebrate that's why was making excuses, but I cannot say that so I decided to go with her.

"Sanya, I think I need to stay with you all the time" Shaurya said abruptly.

Before he could even complete everyone started staring him, especially Aditi.

"I mean that's what Dr. Prashant said, I could need her any moment you know" he completed.

"But I really need to go Shaurya?" I replied

"Maybe I can come with you, if you don't mind" he walked a step towards me saying that.

"Okay, I guess" I agreed.

"So, get ready we need to leave in 10 mins and yeah make sure to get dressed in Indian formals" I said going to my room.

"Indian formals?" Dhruv asked,

"Yeah, actually Dean ma'am wanted that" I lied.

"Sorry to lie to you Dhruv, but I can't risk Shaurya's life getting jinxed now" I thought to myself.

I got ready and came back to the living room where Shaurya was sitting in a yellow kurta with ¾ sleeves and he was looking so dashing, but with everyone sitting there, I just took the keys of the car and asked him to follow.

Sanya asked me to get ready in Indian formals, so I did and when she walked out of her room wearing a red kurta set with dupatta,

she was looking so magnificent, but everyone was there I could not appreciate that and we just went to the car and drove off.

I was sitting on the driver's seat when Shaurya came and sat on the front passenger's seat. I started driving towards the only Krishna temple here.

"That's not the direction of college by what I remember" Shaurya asked.

"Yes, because I was going to kidnap you" I laughed it off.

"Come on Sanya, can you be serious for once?" he asked disappointedly.

"NO" I replied.

"Sanya, tell me where are we going" he asked finally laughing.

"That's for me to know and you to find out" I replied.

I stopped the car by the temple.

"If you wanted to make prayers on your birthday, what was there to hide in that?" Shaurya asked, coming out of the car, with confusion on his face.

"Shh, don't talk here" I said climbing the stairs of the temple.

When I gave the offerings, the priest asked me by what name I wanted it to be offered and I said "Shaurya Malhotra".

In name of going for an urgent work, Sanya and I went to a temple.

But something surprising happened there, instead of offering the offerings with her name she offered them with my name. I was quite shocked, so I asked

"From what I remembered it's your birthday not mine"

"I know that but right now you require the blessings more" she replied without even looking at me.

"May I ask why so?" I asked even when the answer was well known but I wished to hear it from her.

"Because you can't take care of yourself, in order to take care of others" she said finally turning towards me

"You mean I should have let that car hit Dhruv" I asked annoyed

"No, of course not, but you didn't need to jump in front of the car in order to save him, you could have told him to get to side put something else between him and the car but you" she said turning away.

"Fine" I said and left.

For once if I try to do something good for Shaurya that cannot happen, he can fight me on anything and everything. Like he did today, again walked away, I was worshipping in front of the idol, when I heard the priest asking someone with whose name the offerings should be.

I was pretty shocked because here in London people don't pay a visit to temple often, and by what I remember, Janmashtami, a day people would pay a visit was tomorrow, before I could react, I heard Shaurya say "Sanya Agarwal".

I turned around to see what he wanted now and saw he was the one offering the offerings.

"Oh, so now you are offering with my name tit for tat I see" I said looking at him over my shoulder

"Oh, come on none of this is for you, now tomorrow is Janmashtami so I wanted to offer the offerings to Krishna ji, but you already offered with my name, and I know Krishna ji ko maakhan pasand hai but iska matlab yeh nahi hai ki masaka lagao by offering the prasad twice.

( I don't think koi aisa hoga jisko samjh na aaya ho but still, here is the english translation: I know Krishna ji like butter but that doesn't mean I have to do buttering by offering twice)

And no one is here other than you so yeah I offered with your name" he said stepping forward and bowing down it in front of the idol "So nicely explained, no?" I said with a smirk.

We both drove off back to house and got ready for a surprise day out everyone planned for my birthday.

We all finally got out of all the chaos to celebrate Sanya's birthday.

After Sanya and Shaurya came back from whatever work Sanya had, we went to a farmhouse, relaxed sometime in the pool, when Nishi said

"You all never told about your school and how you all used to date in such a young age, like how did your parents allow it?"

Sanya choked on her Miami vice mocktail and coughed. I rubbed her back laughing myself

"What do you think we used to do when we tell we dated?" Sanya said

"Obviously what people do when they date" Kabir said sipping his apple soda and raising his eyebrows. And we all started laughing 😂.

"No Kabir, it was nothing like all this dating and all" I replied

"Yeah, for us dating meant like, sitting together in class, eating together, roaming in school together, taking parts in similar activities and bunking classes in the name of working at different places, while we always used to work on the last day" Sanya said nostalgically

"The trips together, the sitting at the last benches and acting like back benchers while scoring highest in our subjects, the jam sessions between classes" Sanya said leaning towards me.

"You know Dhruv had this dog back home, named jojo, he was so cute, whenever I went to his house, I used to spend all the time with jojo only " she continued giggling

"You also tell us about your dating experience, Shaurya" Kabir asked Shaurya who was sitting outside the pool, because obviously, he still needed to take post-surgery precaution

"The things we did in school were almost same as them, we all did it together as a group only, and outside of that, I didn't like going out much" Shaurya said uninterestedly, reading his never let me go.

"But we used to hang out at his place" Aditi said covering up for him.

We were just discussing about all this when Urvi suggested to go out. So, we all went cycling, and saw a mountain (a hill) and trekked it. The view there was so beautiful.

"After all this exercise you have made me done, I am literally so hungry, and think about Shaurya, he must be tired" Shruti said sitting on a rock and releasing a sigh.

"But we didn't bring anything to eat" Sambhav stated the fact

"So, what? we can always barbeque" Urvi said excitedly

"Barbeque also needs things, to happen" Abhinav said shaking his head

"Yeah so, we can do barbeque from dry broken wood stick"

"Yeah, like that won't be a tiring job"

And we all started laughing

We had a barbeque for the lunch there, came down.

Then we came across a salsa club.

"Let's go there no" Sanya said holding on to my hand looking at a Salsa club.

"Yes, why not? What's a celebration without a dance?" I replied

"Yeah, we also have time before dinner" Aditi said moving towards the salsa club.

We all went to a salsa club nearby, and finally got to the end of the day with dinner at a fancy restaurant. All went perfectly planned and then Shaurya called me and told me to do something which I refused to and told him to do himself.

We all went to this salsa club.
And we had to dance there with partners, so Aditi and I were dancing together. And Sambhav and Shruti, Urvi and Abhinav, Kabir and Nishi were dancing in pairs and obviously Dhruv and Sanya were dancing together.

We start with holding hands and then the song played

I moved a step back and Aditi took a step forward and that was the case with everyone

We both moved to the right moving are hands in a semi circle.

We took steps towards each other.

And I twirled her.

And then our partners change and my new partner was Sanya

We held hand awkwardly

And I turned her so I was facing her back.

And held her from the waist.

" Damn, just how skinny is she? I can literally feel her ribs" I thought to myself.

I held her hand and she leaned forward

And she turned back and placed her hands around my neck

We were swaying on the music

And our partners changed again.

But my eyes lingered on her.

She was wearing a black dress

Which was twinning with Dhruv

While Aditi and I were wearing white outfits

Which is enough to show how opposites we are .

People may say opposites attract but isn't that just a theory of physics

My friends planned a perfect day out for all of us on my birthday. We were all at this fancy restaurant about to head back home when Shaurya came with a beautifully wrapped present in his hand. "I know all of us decided to not give you any presents because you grace us all with your presence but this is something you earned for yourself" he said giving me the box. I opened the box curiously to find out it had a Littman, a pair of scrubs and an ID with Dr. Sanya Agarwal written on it. I was really awestruck and amazed when Shaurya said "Dr. Prashant said you have done your first surgery without your assigned coach and now you finally officially are a FY1, although you still need a degree, but you will now not be an intern but a stipend in the hospital". Before I could say anything, Dhruv came and hugged me and said "Congratulations, my official Doctor Sahiba, I am so proud of you. You know what Shaurya said I should give this to you because I always called you Doctor Sahiba but I told him he was your first, kind of official patient, the reason why you earned this, so he should do the honours"

My best friend Sanya's birthday was really a happy one for all of us. And now we all had our first doctor of the groups. Sanya and I were always close but because of my insecurities towards Shaurya I took a step back but now I have decided to be rectify my mistake and be closer to everyone, so I went and hugged Sanya and said "Cheers to Dr. Sanya Agarwal"

I was really proud of Sanya, she got promoted to a stipend but she was still not officially a doctor and she needed a degree for that, and I didn't want to demoralize her but we had our exams starting overmorrow, so I had to bring the celebration to an end and bring everyone back home.

With this year coming to an end and Aditi, Urvi, Shruti, Abhinav coming here for sophomore year what turn will this story take?
